Bromley FC lift Charity Champions Cup…

As hundreds of people gathered inside the packed North Stand of Leyton FC which consisted of Families and supporters of both teams as well as those supporting the event to raise money for Gaza. The pre match build up consisted of Nasheed Artists Labbayk performing a few nasheeds from there latest Album Rhymes of Praise (Download Mp3 – Right click save as) Camera’s from Islam Channel covered all corners of the ground with the match and performances of the event being televised.

Both teams walked out to a tense atmosphere and the pitch did not do any favours for either team as well. The game kicked off with both teams winning and losing possesion but Asiano’s were passing with more conviction and threat as they played well in the Bromley half earning a few set pieces, this could of been a bit of fatigue kicking in as Bromley played the day before as they beat Stepney FC 4-1 in the BFA Summer League. Bromley tried to use the width of the pitch as the grass was a bit more greener and flat on the sides. Defenders Dipon, Imran and Abdul were occupied in the first half as Asiano’s forced them into playing the ball out of play. It was a corner that saw Asiano’s take the lead as Bromley stood still with poor marking inside the box and a header defeated the keeper Amin as it rippled the Bromley net (1-0 to Asiano’s). Bromley had a few chances in the first half but merely tested there keeper as Marlon and Oli were looking to make it level.

Bromleys Fans occupied the South & West stands as there chants of encouragement and appeal for the Gaza Fund were trickling down Lea Bridge Road but most of the footballing possession lay with Asiano’s FC in the first half.

The second half saw a more rejuvenated Bromley as they were holding and passing the ball with more confidence. A few shots bought the keeper into action and one from Marlon hit the post as the Asiano defenders were handled and rooted to the ground. Hamid was providing more width in the final third as well as Chucky, who was chasing all the loose balls. As time was running out, the possesion in the second half was playing into Bromley’s favour as Marlon was fouled in the box as he turned the defender with the keeper left to beat. A cool headed Marlon slotted in the ball to make it 1-1. This sent the fans into disarray as they congregated in the South Stand, they bearly had time to adjust as a well struck shot from Asianos caught the eye but it was beautifully saved by Keeper Amin.

As the ref signalled the end of the game, it was down to penalties. Bromley 4-2 on penalties with Bromley Keeper Amin saving two Asiano strikes to hand Bromley The Interpal Charity Cup 2009. Rough footage of some of the Penalties can be seen below.

The Match ended with the Nasheed Artist Kamal Uddin performing a few Nasheeds before the trophies were handed out with Marlon picking up the Man of the Match Award.
